How can small and marginal farmer be emancipated from their profession.

How can small and marginal farmer be emancipated from their profession.

All of us know what problems small and marginal farmers go through while farming their fragmented lands, with debts that never be paid off, poor seeds and poor marketing abilities. They are just unable to conduct farming to protect them with their asset; the land. Secondly, do we think that a farmer today should be a person who will live always in a village with poor facilities and be always an illiterate, with poor knowledge of what's going on in the world of agriculture or trade? Must this not change? Is this a fair question for a debate? From my side, I wish to mention that the above needs to change and change for the better. Can we debate how we can do this?

Hi,

I have gone through the points you raised. It is true that Farming community facing lot more problems then those you mentioned.

All we must keep in mind that every one his builder of his own fate.

Farming cummunity is essential creators who are providing food for remaining all other non agriculturists. Any one can live without anything but, no one from begger to bill gates can live without food.

Present situation for agriculture is due to selfish human made efferts against the nature resulted in present disaster situation.

However, small Farmers can do samrt wonders subject to he adhering to true principles of

  • Art of growing crop- Their are lot more traditional knowledge is available to grow the crop which is abandoned in the name of modern agri technology. Remember our ancestors grown very healthy crops during their tenure, have we adopted such unique techniques?
  • Science of knowing disease of crop- Earlier our elderly people had very indigenous knowledge to raise the crops in such a way of resisting any possible threats. Have we retained & cultivating those traditional techniques. Hope No.
  • Expertise to sell his product at his terms- A Farmer should be like a businessman to showcase his product and sell it on his terms.

A knowledgeable Farmer can do it now.

Honour the five forces of the nature Earth,Water, Fire, Air & Sky and justify through their acts and deeds first according to the nature.

Grow, healthy produce, give it to some on to taste & compare it with the same grown on other methods, then decide them to choose either they wants your produce or other. If they wanted your product, then they must accept your terms to sell at rate fixed by you my brother Farmer.

Nothing is prevented Farmer to learn knowledge either from elderly people in their surroundings or from all formats of media even learn from farming achievers around them is the essential first to rule in his terms is next.

In my opinion, short courses of the duration of 6 months , one year etc. in Agricultural Technology/ Techniques, developed on lines of ITI and made available free of cost , in their own village or town to all those children of farmers, who give up studies after 10th or 12th can serve as a great boon, in improving the conditions of farming and farmers in our country. [2] A cooperative farming model based on the AMUL / NDDB at ANAND, Gujarat, can make india number 1 at world level, at the quantity, and quality of the farm produce, besides bring the utmost dignity to the farming as a profession. I am a retired faculty with more than 40 years of experience in technica l education, and I am writing this with full conviction.
