You can start with a handful initially and slowly increase upto 2 kg of Azolla (fresh weight). The quantity of commercial feed that can be replaced depends upon the milk yield of the buffalo.

You can use azolla 30% of total feed for rabbits, up to 40% for sheep and goats, 30 % for piggery and what more you want

fodder production with high protein to sustain small farmers possessing less than a hect of land is a necessity so that their protein. requirements can be met by milk and meat of reared livestock and poultry.such rearing will also improve the quality of the animals and ease their financial burden as this high grade fodder will compensate for the absence of grazing grounds.micro holdings have pushed the small framer to continuously try and extract produce from land leached of all nutrients since the marginal farmer can not afford to leave land fallow to recoup.this leads to the practice of over dosing with chemical fertilisers affecting land fertility and the produce ultimately.the problem of nitrogen fixing can be overcome by encouraging planting of fodders like hedge and tree lucerne which mitigate all the problems and not only rejuvenate the land as well as the farmer.the govt should try to encourage such efforts with discounts on seeds and help the farmer in the intervening period till the system takes root and gets established.no amount of waivers of loans will do .
