Self4Society App and Web portal

Introduction

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India has launched the "Self4Society" (Main Nahin Hum), a digital platform created to bring synergy for societal change. Both web portal and app was launched which will enable various organizations to create their own Initiatives under the identified National Causes to serve the society better.

The portal, which works on the theme "Self4Society", will enable IT professionals and organisations unite  together on one single platform and channelise their efforts towards social causes. In doing so, the portal is expected to help catalyse greater collaboration towards the service of the weaker sections of society, especially by leveraging the benefits of technology. It is also expected to generate wider participation of interested people who are motivated to work for the benefit of society.

What is Self4Society platform?

The Self4Society platform is the premiere workspace for Electronics and IT Corporates to organise employee engagements (Initiatives) for social work. The organisation can create their own Initiatives under the identified National Causes.

The Self4Society platform comprises of the following:

  1. Self4Society Admin portal (self4society.mygov.in) :  for Electronics and IT Industry's Corporate HR or CSR representatives, who will create the organisational profile and upload Initiatives.
  2. Self4Society App (available on Google Play Store and App Store) : for employees, who will volunteer for Initiatives and contribute their time to tasks on-the-ground.

HR or CSR representative of Organisations create initiatives which are a set of tasks related to a cause category listed in the platform. Each Initiative provides the details of the specific date, venue and time where the volunteering activity will take place. The details also include the name and description for the Initiative, along with the organiser's contact details, location and task details.

The Initiatives created on the Self4Society portal are synched up on the Self4Society App from where the employees can indicate willingness to volunteer and mark their presence.

Goodness Points are credited to the Organisation and its employees who volunteer for the Initiatives, for the ground work they have executed. By earning greater goodness points, Organisations and their employees have the opportunity to be part of the New India Champions Leader board on the Self4Society platform that features the top five contributors among organisations and individuals.
