mAadhaar

This topic provides information about mAadhaar.

mAadhaar is official mobile application developed by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to provide an interface to Aadhaar Number Holders to carry their demographic information viz. Name, Date of Birth, Gender and Address along with photograph as linked with their Aadhaar Number in smart phones.

Key Features

  1. Aadhaar Number Holder profile download – A convenient way to carry Aadhaar number with demographic details anytime, anywhere.
  2. Biometric locking/unlocking – To secure biometric authentication by locking biometrics data. Once resident enables Biometric Locking system their biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar Holder chose to either Unlock it (which is temporary) or Disable the Locking system.
  3. TOTP generation – Time-based One-Time Password is an automatically generated temporary password which can be used instead of SMS based OTP.
  4. Update of profile – An updated view of Aadhaar profile data after successful completion of update request.
  5. Sharing of QR code and eKYC data by Aadhaar Number holder – Share QR code and password protected eKYC data to retrieve accurate demographic information from it instead of manual entry.

Requirements

To use mAadhaar, the following are required.

  1. Smart phone with Android Version 5.0 and up and internet connectivity
  2. A valid mobile connection.
  3. The mobile number should be linked with Aadhaar number of your Aadhaar number.
  4. mAadhaar app -To download the app for Android OS, click here.

Usage Guidelines

  1. Application will ask for password as soon as it is opened as the first step. User should enter a password of length minimum 8 and maximum 12 characters.The password should contain atleast 1 number, 1 alphabet, 1 special character ( @,#,&,%,*,!,-,(,) ) and 1 alphabet in capital e.g. Sharma@123
  2. Aadhaar profile can be downloaded only on mobile devices having registered mobile number (Registered mobile number is the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar)
  3. Please do not navigate from application if it is waiting for SMS. mAadhaar will automatically read the OTP once it is received.
  4. There is no provision to manually enter the OTP anywhere in mAadhaar. This is a security feature.
  5. mAadhaar needs to connect and download data from UIDAI. So ensure that internet connectivity is available on your phone.
  6. One Aadhaar profile can be active on only one device at a time. If you create profile on another device by inserting the sim in another device, the previous profile would become inactive and would be deleted from older device whenever any operation is attempted from that device.
  7. If members of your family have the same mobile number registered as you in their Aadhaar, you can add their profile in your device.
  8. A user can add maximum 3 profiles in his device, all having same mobile number registered in their Aadhaar.

FAQs on mAadhaar

  1. Is mAadhar valid for iOS?
  2. No, mAadhar is not valid for iOS devices.

  3. Does mAadhar works on rooted devices?
  4. No, mAadhar does not works on rooted devices. Rooting is the process of allowing users of smart phones, tablets and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as root access) over various Android subsystems.

  5. mAadhaar application is not reading OTP Automatically.
  6. Please check all the Permissions (Allow Application to read SMS)when installing the mAadhaar App.

    • Go to Permissions Control
    • Go to APPS
    • Go to mAadhaar App
    • Allow the Read SMS Option
  7. How resident can create profile in mAadhaar app?
    • Enter 12 digit Aadhaar Number or scan your Aadhaar card
    • Ensure that your mobile connection is active and that the mobile number is same as that available with UIDAI as your registered mobile number.
    • After providing the mandatory inputs press the button 'Verify', available at the bottom of the screen. After pressing 'Verify' button do not navigate away from the screen
    • If details provided by you are found to be correct then application will receive OTP and will read OTP automatically from the phone.
  8. How resident can view Profile?
  9. Resident can view profile by following these steps:

    • Press your profile on the homepage of the app
    • Authenticate yourself by entering profile password
    • In the profile screen flip your profile to view address
  10. How to View Updated Profile in mAadhaar?
    • Open your profile
    • Select "View updated Profile" on top right corner to view recently updated Aadhaar data
    • On Tap OTP will be sent and auto-filled, Tap OK to confirm and view profile.
    • Ensure network connectivity on your mobile device before initiating profile sync
    • Upon successful sync latest Aadhaar data will be visible on your screen.
  11. How to Reset Password?
    • Select "Reset Password" from top menu on the home screen
    • Provide all the mandatory fields then click on "Reset Password" button at the bottom of the screen
    • Enter new password to reset
  12. How resident can delete Profile from mAadhaar app?
  13. Resident can view profile by following these steps:

    • Open your profile and click on menu at top right.
    • Select Delete Profile option.
    • Ensure network connectivity on your mobile device before authenticating yourself by entering profile password.
    • App will delete the profile.
  14. How to avoid entering your password again and again, on opening the app?
    • Select dropdown from the top left corner of the app.
    • Go to Settings.
    • Uncheck the checkbox: ‘Ask password for every time.
  15. Can mAadhar app work offline?
  16. mAadhaar needs to be connected and download data from UIDAI. So ensure that internet connectivity is available on your phone.

  17. Where OTP can be entered, received OTP on non-registered mobile number?
  18. There is no provision to manually enter the OTP anywhere in mAadhaar. This is a security feature. Please do not navigate from application if it is waiting for SMS. Aadhaar will automatically read the OTP once it is received.

  19. What is e-KYC? How it is the use of eKYC?
  20. Electronic Know or e KYC is the way of resident authentication used by organization like Banks, Aadhaar allows the residents to submit it as an address proof electronically which is valid as a Xerox copy of Aadhaar Card.

  21. How to share eKYC?
    • Open your profile
    • Click on the top RHS corner.
    • Select /Tap on Share eKYC, pop-up will appear re-enter password.
    • Select one sharing option from the available ( Gmail, Bluetooth, SHAREit, Skype etc.).
  22. What is TOTP? How TOTP can be utilized for Aadhaar card holder?

  26. How resident can lock their Biometrics?
    • Open your profile
    • Click on the top RHS corner.
    • Select Biometric Settings.
    • To lock biometrics select check box ‘Enable Biometric Lock’.
    • To save your selection, click on Tick Mark on top RHS.
    • An OTP will be generated and auto-filled and biometrics will be locked.
    • The Biometric will be locked permanently till unlocked.
  27. How resident can unlock their Biometrics?
    • Open your profile
    • Click on the top RHS corner.
    • Select Biometric Settings.
    • To unlock biometrics select check box ‘Enable Biometric Lock’.
    • To save your selection, click on Tick Mark on top RHS.
    • An OTP will be generated and auto-filled and biometrics will be locked.
    • The Biometric will be un-locked permanently till unlocked.

    Note: In order to permanently unlock Biometrics it takes 6 hours, so might be resident will not be able to Authenticate for next 6 hours.

    Resident can unlock Biometrics in 2 ways

    • Temporary Unlock – Unlocked valid for 10 minutes
    • Permanent Unlock – Unlocked Permanently

  28. Is it compulsory to have registered mobile number to use m-Aadhaar?
  29. Yes, it is compulsory to have registered Mobile Number.OTP will be shared and auto-filled via registered mobile number in mAadhaar app. In case you’re mobile number is not registered with Aadhaar visit the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre.

  30. How to share QR-Code?
    • Open your profile
    • Click on the top RHS corner.
    • Select ‘Show QR-Code’.
    • A pop-up to re-enter password will appear if Profile is Password Protected.
    • QR Code will be displayed.
    • Select one sharing option from the available options.
  31. What is the maximum number of profiles can be added in mAadhaar App?
  32. A user can add maximum 3 profiles in his device, all having same mobile number registered in their Aadhaar. Auto-fill OTP is valid and hence user cannot add any profiles which are registered with any other mobile number. If members of your family have the same mobile number registered as you in their Aadhaar, you can add their profile in your device.

  33. Why my profile on mAadhaar gets inactive when have changed to new phone with registered mobile number?

please help to enter the otp manually. in different situations when the sim card is in other phone or in emergency cases It is useful
