Our government at the centre has completed four years of it’s term in office. To mark the occasion, every Ministry has come out with a report to the citizens highlighting the Achievements & Milestones across various sectors. This issue of Vikas News captures the snapshots of these reports for you to access and benefit out of them.
Access to clean and safe drinking water is a basic necessity for all human beings. Various development stakeholders, primarily the government, have taken up various activities towards fulfilling this basic need. “Swajal” is one such focused initiative launched by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India as part of its National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP). “Swajal” is designed as a demand driven and community centred program to provide sustainable access to drinking water to people in rural areas. In the first phase, it is proposed to select pilot project district in six States, viz., Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar.
