Awareness on social welfare schemes

Awareness on social welfare schemes

Posted by Anonymous at March 07. 2014
No doubt that there are wonderful schemes of the Government of India; all built for progress of the poor. Most unfortunately these do not reach the poor but are siphoned away by miscreants who are middlemen and corrupt officials. It is a pity that these classes of people of our country are not served well at all despite the resolve of the Government towards these people. Raghavan

Sir i have been working on rural development from past 1 year. The scenario in villages is absolutely different from our perception. The urban youth will have to come forward for spreading awareness regarding social welfare schemes. The youth can start up a culture of organising awareness camps in their localities which will ultimately aware the people about welfare schemes and their benefits.

I am impress to see a lots of Government Policies,Schemes etc. for upliftment of rural people, but to my dismay i am pain by the performance of the implementing agencies and Govt.Dept. they are availing grants and funds for implimentation but in return they sent paper works to the Central government and exhaust the development fund which is sanctioned for the poor.I am rural educated youth managing a Handloom weaving and Youth motivation center in Nagaland state,i am deeply discouraged by the way the Government departments allocates and dispurse funds for variouse development work.I managed an enterprise or a working centre which is a reality but to my utter surprise huge amount of moneys are pump to non existing and ghost work place, i see no good reason where our State /country will prosper. If any investigating agencies or Government agencies of Rural Development wants to acquire or authenticate the system, they can visit a work place like mine and there are also many good enterprises running and managing without Government assitance, who have completely loss confidence on Government funding and schemes. My center is Kenlowa Handloom Weaving and Youth motivation Center,Kandi Station village,64 km away from Nagaland state capital 3 hours journey. Kenneth

My father got a heart surgery by injecting 3 stents through upper leg which cost around 5 lakh. Though we are not having the money, we took from relatives with interest and did the operation immediately. Any body can tell the procedure on how to receive an amount from PM fund.

Applicants can apply for grant of financial assistance through an application (format available at the website) addressed to the Prime Minister. Applicants, applying for grant of financial assistance for medical treatment, are required to enclose two passport size photographs of patient (one pasted on application, another stapled with application), copy of residence proof, original medical certificate incorporating the type of disease and estimated cost of expenditure and copy of his income certificate. List of hospitals empanelled with the PMNRF is posted separately at the PMNRF website which could be used by the applicant for reference at the time of applying for grant. After receipt of application, the same is considered and disbursements are made at the sole discretion of the Prime Minister, keeping in view availability of funds and prior commitments of the PMNRF.

You can download the aplication form from following link:

My question is: People are not benefitted of the schemes started by the Central or State Governments for want to proper knowledge. They fell victims to the middlemen and unscrupulous persons and thus the Government's schemes get failed. It is adding corruption and actual benefit is not reached to the people designed for. Knowledge about the government's schemes of Bihar state can be spread through : Ghosti, publication of books, establishment of knowledge centre in each blocks of the state through which awareness can be given. Wall paining, Banner , poster, Electronic Print Media, Toll free no. are also other medium to spread the knowledge. Thanks and regards, D.P. There are amplest public welfare schemes of Central and State government. But public especially illeterate - poor are not being benefited due to lack of awareness about these schemes because they can't access, afford and adopt media, social media, multimedia, electronics media. Very often Public administrators are not publicly cooperative and being venal, corrupted, imperious.

I keep travelling across India and have been interacting with people at villages, towns and many places. There is a huge population who are very poor in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal. These people aren't aware of any schemes of poverty eradication, education or skill development. Communication and awareness should be created amongst people about govt. schemes. Even if Govt. officers are called at their numbers, many a times their response is not helpful. My suggestions - 1. Can Govt. launch a IVR number for all the schemes 2. We have DD news, regional news, radio channels. Can 30 mins programs on government schemes be shown in regional languages 3. Is it possible to put posters, banners outside government offices, schools etc. about the schemes and update it on regular basis 4. Can govt. distribute pamphlets to the government school and college students about the new schemes so that the students can show this at their home and development can start at grass root level? 5. Is it possible to mandate 2 months of summer internship after 12th board / during engineering / bachelors/masters with Govt. agencies. This way govt. can get hands and ideas to implement project at a faster rate.

Improper implementations of public welfare schemes and fake beneficiaries have left rural INDIA highly underdeveloped.

There are plenty of schemes for Social and Economic development of Rural Population but due to lack of awareness among rural class and scrupulous venture b/w Officials and Middlemen, the actual benefits do not reach the actual needy. We should think of devising a self sustained development model based on contribution from beneficiaries itself and run it on time bound trust or company model. Contribution of time, knowledge and skills from persons having pain for upliftment is required in order to succeed in this noble cause.
