M-Kavach 2

Introduction

M-Kavach 2 is a comprehensive mobile device security solution addressing emerging threats related to Android based mobile devices. The major emphasis is on advising the users against security misconfigurations, detection of hidden/banned apps and scanning the device for potential malicious apps installed on the user’s mobile device.

Need for the app

Nowadays, our mobile phones have access to tons of our personal data such as our financial transactions, SMSs, Social Media, photos, videos etc. So it's really important to secure our data and prevent it from going into the wrong hands. This requires keeping a constant check on our mobile devices for properly configured security and to verify that there are no bad apps on our device. But it is very difficult for a normal user to perform the same on their own. So, there is a need for a mobile security app which helps us in performing the same and protect our mobile devices and data.

M-Kavach 2 is a mobile security app developed by C-DAC with support from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology,  Government of India to help mobile users in securing their mobile devices. It helps the users in securely configuring their mobile devices and identify if any bad apps are installed on our device.

Overview of app features

• Threat Analyzer - Checks if any bad apps are installed on the device.
• Security Advisor - Provides a holistic security status of the device.
• Detection of Hidden/Banned Apps - Identifies the existence of any hidden/banned apps on the mobile device.
• App Latest Update Statistics - Notify the users regarding the apps not updated for longer durations.
• Adware Scanner - Notify the users about the adware present on the device.
