About POBE

As part of its Science Outreach Programme, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) conducts a Project Oriented Biology Education (POBE) programme, for students studying in B.Sc first year (PCM) to explore their academic potential, stimulate deeper interest in science and infuse creativity and scientific temper amongst undergraduate students. Selected students will be given an opportunity to attend lectures, and participate in laboratory projects and research. The programme will be conducted during the summer vacation for a period of 6 to 8 weeks over three consecutive summers. Selected students are expected to commit to the programme for three years and successful candidates will receive a Diploma in Biology from the Centre. Specialization in advanced materials will be possible during the last year. Since its inception in 2006, around 103 students from different colleges of the country have benefited from these programmes. Most of them are pursuing science/research within country and abroad.

Eligibility Criteria

Students presently studying in the 1st year of three year B.Sc programme only (preferably with Physics, Biology, Mathematics, (PBM) combination).

Fellowships

The total number of fellowships offered will be upto 10. A scholarship of ₹ 10000 per month will be provided.
