The Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) is not for profit organization promoted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with financial support from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

About B&WSSC

The aim of Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) is to focus on establishing an effective and efficient ecosystem for developing and imparting skills in the Beauty and Wellness Industry, through relevant content and curriculum, courses, information database, delivery systems and standardization of the accreditation and certification process, to enhance the employability of the Indian workforce nationally and globally. Since its inception, the council has taken several steps towards organizing this sector by creating 60 job roles that are QRC cleared and 22 job roles are NSQC cleared and are aligned to the needs of the industry.

Objective

The key objective of the Council is to bridge the skill gaps and develop a talent pool that is essential to aid the growth of Beauty & Wellness sector in India. The Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council serves as a single source of information on the sector with specific reference to Skill and Human Resource Development in India.

The Council is aimed to develop National Occupational Standards & Qualification Packs for various job-roles in Beauty & Wellness Sector, identify skill-gaps, design courses and training content, set standards, put in place an assessment & certification mechanism, accredit training institutes, provide placement support and help institutes build and upgrade their capacity through the train-the-trainer program.

  • The sector is thriving on the increasing section of affluent and middle-class population that has started considering Beauty and Wellness as a necessity
  • Increased emphasis on holistic wellbeing with people’s desire to look good and young are other motivators for the industry
  • The rejuvenation segment is no longer perceived as a mere luxury service but it is now acknowledged as an essential tool to de-stress
