Vikaspedia wishes the teaching fraternity a Happy Teacher’s Day…
Teachers play a vital role in shaping young and inquisitive minds. Their contirbution to nation building is therefore unparallelled. As we commemmorate the Teacher’s Day on September 05, let us do all that we can to recognise and support the contributions of the teaching fraternity to our nation.
In India, there are over 10 million teachers. The diversity and complexity of student background and learning levels in an Indian classroom cannot be overstated―every one of our teachers has to navigate this every day. Over the past several years many state and central government initiatives have been attempting to strengthen the capacity of teachers so that they are better able to deliver meaningful instruction to help students achieve their full potential. National Teacher Platform (NTP) branded as "Diksha" is one such initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is a state-of-the-art platform built to host Open Educational Resources (OER) and tools for Teachers in Schools, Teacher Educators in Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) and Student Teachers in TEIs. The digital generation today face frequent threats in the form of online challenge games that can prove to be fatal, if not checked in its very beginning. One such game is the Momo Challenge. The Momo Challenge consists of a variety of self harming dares which becomes increasingly risky as the game progresses and it finally ends with suicide challenge. The game involves challenges that encourage teenagers/ children / any other user to engage in series of violent acts as challenges of the game. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has released an advisory on Momo Challenge. Visit the section “InfoSec for You” to know more.
