The ‘YSR Kanti Velugu’ (eye screening), scheme is a program to take up comprehensive eye screening for entire State population. The government will bear the entire cost from preliminary eye check-up to surgeries wherever required for the entire 5.40 crore population.
The residents benefit from a free mass eye screening program taken up by the Andhra Pradesh government in a phased manner. The scheme is aimed to provide comprehensive and sustainable universal eye care to all the people of the state.

The programme is being implemented in six phases over a period of two-and-a- half-years on a mission mode. After completing the first and second phases successfully, the government decided to conduct eye screening for the people aged over 60 years in the third phase.
This is a state led implemented scheme which will be launched and implemented in various phases.
